With Kurt Caselli on the Red Bull KTM Factory Rally Team, American desire for rally racing should only rise.

With that in mind, rally fan Scotty Bloom held what he or she dubbed the first rally-raid/navigational type of race in Baja over the weekend and it appeared to get good reviews from individuals.

Dakar racer plus former Baja champ Quinn Cody–currently without a ride–borrowed a bike, slapped on a big tank and some move instruments then dominated most of the occasion.

Unfortunately, the motor let go with maybe 10 mls to go and he could only sit down and watch as the rest of the field went past with Andy Grider (a former Dakar racer himself that now concentrates on truck racing) emerging the winner of the inaugural occasion over TV commentator Cameron Steele and Enduro360. com’s Chilly White-colored.

Speaking of Caselli, immediately after Six Days, he flew in order to Spain to stay a bit with his new teammate Marc Coma before they will headed to Morocco for a team photograph shoot ahead of next week’s OiLibya rally.

Johnny Campbell Racing Honda’s Timmy Weigand happened to run his record to five wins in the featured AMA West Coast Grand Prix race at circular six of the AMA D-37 Large 6 Grand Prix Series, the Viewfinders GP in Ridgecrest, Ca. He trailed hometown favorite Ryan Abbatoye at first, but took the lead on hour into it plus finished in front, though Abbatoye held within a few seconds the entire way in the Kawasaki. Justin Seeds rounded System.Drawing.Bitmap top three on another KX450F.

On the other side of the nation, Husaberg’s Russell Bobbitt wrapped up the Parts Unlimited Off-road Motorcycle plus ATV Nationals championship when he or she won round eight, the FMF Racing National near Council Bluffs, Iowa, a new venue. Kole Henslee and and Pro 2 winner Tucker Smith rounded out the top three.

With his fourth consecutive victory and sixth on the season so far, Bobbitt replaces the still out-of-action and five-time champion Paul Whibley as number one with one round remaining–the always enjoyable Moose Run.

More on last week’s 2014 SCORE scheduling came right after we’d written last week’s “Weekly Dirt” and it’s a substantial change. Rather than running two organizations–HDRA in the U. S. plus SCORE for races south from the border–owner Roger Norman decided to consolidate and blend the two into basically SCORE. In addition to SCORE’s San Felipe 250, Baja 500 and Bajita 1000, there will be three SCORE events in the U. S. that will consist of the inaugural SCORE World Desert Championship.

For the first time in numerous years, bikes and ATVs may compete in SCORE races upon American soil beginning with round two of the 2014 series, the Imperial Valley 250 in Plaster City, California, on April 25-27. (Round one will be the 28th Tecate/SCORE San Felipe 250 on February 27-March 2 . ) The 46th Tecate/SCORE Baja 500 will be round 3 on June 5-8 followed by the 3rd SCORE Reno 500 on Come july 1st 24-27.

Round 5 is still being determined, but it will be held at in Southern California and be a short course-style event. The finale will, naturally , be the 47th Tecate/SCORE Baja 1000 and next year’s race will be a peninsula run on November 12-16.

Only the five best results may count towards the SCORE World Desert Championship, with participation in the 1000 mandatory.

“Mexican events are the cornerstone of SCORE and it will be a tremendous benefit to our sports activity to introduce one super series that will help bring the sport and SCORE to an entire new level, ” Norman said. —Mark Kariya
