Stock Bike Friday: Kyle Chisholm’s YZ450F

Mechanic: Scott Raybon

According to mechanic Scott Raybon, most of the items found on Kyle Chisholm’s CycleTrader. com/Rock River Yamaha YZ450F are aftermarket items available over the counter, other than the motor and suspension mods, which are done by Joe Gibbs Racing.

When it comes to the motor, Chisholm is very picky. “He likes his power so there’s a good strike at the bottom and then pulls a bit before tapering off at the top. He doesn’t want it to keep pulling and tugging, ” says Raybon.

As far as the suspension goes, Raybon says Chisholm likes his suspension system on the stiff side, but not extremely stiff.

Among the aftermarket replacement goodies, the team is using a good FMF exhaust, which Raybon states is off the shelf. The triple clamps are Xtrig, and they are the typical 22mm offset, and Chisholm uses a CID rear shock linkage. The piston is made by Vertex.

This year the team connected with Streamline for brake rotors and the front rotor is 270mm and the rear is the same dimension as OEM.

Other items include CV4 radiators plus radiator cap, GYTR chain plus sprockets, Vortex bars, and ARCH levers.

Chisholm also uses a GUTS factory grip seat.
